The client is seeking a Dean to serve as the chief academic officer for a medical education college. The Dean provides leadership for osteopathic medical professional education, practice, research, scholarly activities, and service, and will unite faculty, staff, preceptors, and students around the institution’s mission and goals. The role includes representation of the college to external audiences and collaboration with the broader university administrative team to support the best interests of the client.
The Dean is responsible for the development and implementation of all academic and clinical programs, including planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating academic activities and assessments to ensure effective delivery of the mission and compliance with accreditation standards. This includes leading the self-study process and preparing annual and mid-cycle reports as required by the relevant accrediting body. The Dean also establishes short- and long-range goals, objectives, plans, and procedures, oversees operational activities, and supports interdisciplinary education aligned with the client’s academic programs.
Core responsibilities include recruiting and retaining a high-quality faculty, managing departmental budgets and ensuring fiscal viability for the college, and partnering with admissions stakeholders to admit a qualified and competitive class of students each year. The Dean will supervise the development and maintenance of high-quality educational experiences for third- and fourth-year learners at associated clinical settings, and oversee the recruitment and maintenance of quality clinical rotations for those students. Additional duties include managing college finances, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, and fostering continuous improvement in educational and clinical experiences.
