This role of Data Governance Officer reports to the Head of Operations and was established to fill a gap in internal Information Governance capability. The program involves multiple stakeholders and partners, focusing on creating strong governance foundations and supporting the development of a secure, centralized digital platform that will serve as the main data repository for operational and customer information. The officer is expected to review current data governance practices, design and implement an effective framework, and ensure the proper mapping and visibility of data across the ecosystem. Additionally, the role includes defining governance tools, standards, and processes, leading compliance efforts, and advising on best practices and risk management.
The core responsibilities include conducting data mapping and flow analysis, providing governance advice, and supporting multiple concurrent digital and data initiatives. The officer must translate requirements into practical governance controls and assist in the deployment of a centralized platform utilized by internal teams and external partners. Key tasks also involve ensuring data integrity, consistency, and establishing appropriate controls across various projects while consolidating siloed information into a unified governance strategy.
Candidates must have robust experience in Information/Data Governance, both strategically and in hands-on roles, with a history of establishing governance frameworks independently. Familiarity with DSARs, DPIAs, and DPA compliance, along with experience in navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments, is essential. It is advantageous to have exposure to digital or customer platforms and transformation programs, and experience working within partnership or multi-organization settings. Strong interpersonal skills, a pragmatic mindset, and the ability to communicate governance practices to non-technical teams are important for success in this fast-paced, delivery-oriented environment.
