Description

The client is seeking founding leadership for a senior credit risk role in Indonesia within a fast-growing global fintech expanding across emerging markets in Southeast Asia. This position will help establish a Southeast Asia credit risk practice, working with regional and global leaders while taking an early hands-on approach to set direction, develop policies, conduct analyses, and engage with regulators. As the business scales, the role will transition into building and leading the credit risk team and related operating practices.

Key responsibilities include defining the end-to-end credit risk agenda for Indonesia, setting priorities, and creating the framework from scratch. The role will lead credit strategy using quantitative rigor, developing underwriting policies, credit limits, scorecards, and a collections approach, and partnering with data science to apply and refine predictive models and translate outputs into decisioning rules. It will establish portfolio monitoring standards, drive loss-mitigation strategies, and manage regulatory relationships, including compliance obligations under the applicable regulatory framework, as well as oversight of preparation for a Fit & Proper test where required.

The successful candidate will typically have experience in financial services (such as banking, multi-finance, or fintech) and at least 15+ years of relevant credit risk and consumer finance experience. They should demonstrate the ability to design and operationalize a credit risk framework from zero, with strong technical depth to work hands-on with SQL and Python and support quantitative risk modeling. Preferred experience includes familiarity with the Indonesian lending ecosystem and consumer lending regulated by OJK, readiness to undergo the Fit & Proper test, comfort working in ambiguous high-growth environments, strong stakeholder influence across technical and non-technical groups, and a proactive, compliance-minded approach to risk identification and mitigation; openness to foreign candidates familiar with the Indonesian market and regulatory landscape is expected.
