We are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and Child Protection Chair to join a dedicated team on a six-month interim contract in the South West. Offering a competitive hourly rate and hybrid working arrangements, this role focuses on safeguarding children and ensuring their voices are heard. As a Child Protection Chair/IRO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping best practices, promoting children's rights, and ensuring effective care and safety planning for vulnerable community members. Your responsibilities include chairing Child Protection Conferences and Children We Care For reviews, promoting SMART, child-centered plans, and acting as a critical friend to enhance outcomes for children.
In this role, you will also facilitate strong multi-agency collaboration and effective communication across services. Your duties will include undertaking quality assurance activities, such as audits and case reviews, to drive continuous improvement in safeguarding practices. Additionally, you will provide specialist advice and consultancy to colleagues and partner agencies, contribute to policy development, and deliver inter-agency training aimed at strengthening safeguarding practices. Your previous experience will include a professional social work qualification and registration, a minimum of five years in children's statutory services, and a robust ability to engage with children, young people, and families effectively.
Your proficiency in team management, performance oversight, and staff supervision, coupled with strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and care planning processes, are crucial.
