Description

The client is seeking a Country Manager to lead and manage all aspects of its US importing and distribution business. The role will oversee commercial development and day-to-day operations, including administrative functions, compliance, HR, legal, and accounting coordination, supporting the transition as the current manager departs.

Key responsibilities include developing the business in the USA through distributors and retailers, setting and executing short-, mid-, and long-term strategy, and managing compliance obligations related to the wine industry and regulatory authorities (including licensing and registration, and ongoing reporting). The Country Manager will also manage import clearing and logistics relationships, working to optimize processes and costs, and oversee sales administration such as invoicing, receivables collection, margin control, and sales reporting tools, along with monitoring relevant expenses and allowances.

The role includes accounting management through a CPA relationship to ensure accurate accounting entries and support required payroll data, as well as coordinating legal corporate obligations with support from accounting and legal advisors. The Country Manager will manage cash flow, monitor short- and average-term cash needs in line with group cash management, and oversee stock movements and inventory levels with the warehouse partner to support product availability and optimize cash flow. Qualifications include an associate’s degree in business management or related field (with a bachelor’s degree preferred), commercial capability for business development, knowledge of the US three-tier system and wine industry, familiarity with US accounting practices, at least three years of similar experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential matters and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
