Description

The client is seeking a Country Manager to manage the company’s operations in the USA. This role covers commercial development, administrative operations, compliance, HR, legal, and accounting matters. The manager will lead efforts to develop the business as an importer and agent across the country through distributors and retailers, establishing a strategy across short-, mid-, and long-term horizons.

The Country Manager will oversee compliance with wine-related regulations and licensing requirements, including registrations and ongoing reporting to relevant state liquid boards and other authorities. They will manage import-clearing activities across the US territory, coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and logistics operators to achieve favorable costs and smooth import operations. They will also support accounting by coordinating with a CPA to ensure accurate recordkeeping and will gather data needed for payroll.

In addition, the role includes cash management across incoming and outgoing funds in coordination with group cash management, sales administration from invoicing through receivables collection, and control of gross margin performance to support profitability. The Country Manager will set up sales statistics and tracking tools, manage sales-related expense oversight and depletion allowances, and direct inventory coordination with a warehouse partner to optimize stock levels for cash flow and product availability. Required qualifications include an associate degree (a bachelor’s degree preferred), commercial capability, knowledge of the US three-tier system and wine industry, US accounting principles (GAAP), at least three years of similar experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong communication, organization, customer service, and professionalism; prior experience in comparable leadership roles is appreciated.
