This is an opportunity for a senior corporate lawyer with a well-developed corporate practice, strong client relationships, and a commitment to supporting the continued growth of the corporate and commercial group. The role will work with sophisticated clients and may involve matters across Canada and globally, depending on client needs.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a broad corporate and commercial practice, advising on a range of corporate transactions and governance matters. Responsibilities will include mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, private company transactions, reorganizations, commercial agreements, and general corporate advisory work. Success in the role will depend on having a portable book of business or established client relationships, along with the ability to maintain and expand those relationships over time.
Key requirements include an LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent) and good standing with a Canadian Law Society, along with significant experience advising on complex commercial matters. The client expects superior drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, sound business judgment, and strong practice management capabilities. The Corporate Partner will also collaborate across practice groups, offices, and jurisdictions, mentor and support associates and junior lawyers, and contribute to business development through client relationship management, profile-building, and strategic growth initiatives.
