the client is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Director of Engineering to lead engineering, facilities, capital planning, and asset preservation across a growing portfolio of luxury hospitality properties. Reporting to executive leadership, the role establishes engineering standards, directs preventive maintenance programs, oversees capital planning and execution, and manages life safety and regulatory compliance. The Corporate Director of Engineering also drives sustainability initiatives and provides functional leadership to property Chief Engineers to support safe, efficient operations at the highest standard.
The ideal candidate has multi-property hospitality engineering and facilities leadership experience, with a strong background in capital planning, project management, and asset preservation initiatives, including experience with hotel renovations and related programs such as property improvement and preventive initiatives. This role is expected to demonstrate leadership of engineering teams across multiple locations, strong financial acumen for CAPEX and repair-and-maintenance budgeting, and experience partnering with ownership groups and executive leadership teams. The position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time and includes expectations to relocate to the northeastern region of the USA, with international travel as needed.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a multi-year capital improvement plan; prioritizing projects based on asset condition, operational needs, risk, and return on investment; and leading operational capital projects involving building systems, infrastructure upgrades, FF&E refreshes, and mechanical and electrical improvements. The role manages project scope, bidding, contractor selection, budgets, schedules, and delivery, and supports major renovations and redevelopment by providing engineering expertise and ensuring seamless turnover to hotel operations. Additionally, the Corporate Director of Engineering standardizes preventive maintenance and engineering practices; oversees critical building systems performance; ensures compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory requirements; manages inspection schedules, certifications, testing, documentation, emergency preparedness, and business continuity; directs building envelope and exterior asset preservation; and leads energy management, modernization, sustainability efforts, and corporate environmental reporting, while developing and managing annual repair-and-maintenance and capital budgets and monitoring performance against budget targets.
