Description

the client is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Director of Engineering to lead engineering, facilities, capital planning, and asset preservation across a growing portfolio of luxury hospitality properties. reporting to executive leadership, this role establishes engineering standards, directs preventive maintenance programs, oversees capital planning and execution, manages life safety and regulatory compliance, drives sustainability initiatives, and provides functional leadership to property Chief Engineers to ensure properties operate safely and efficiently at a high standard.

ideal candidates have multi-property hospitality engineering/facilities leadership experience, strong capital planning and project management skills, and experience supporting hotel renovations and asset preservation programs such as PIPs. the role requires proven leadership of engineering teams across multiple locations, solid financial acumen including CAPEX and R&M budgeting, and the ability to partner effectively with ownership groups and executive leadership. the role is expected to involve travel up to 50% of the time and ability to relocate to the northeast of the USA, with international travel as needed.

primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining a multi-year capital improvement plan, prioritizing projects by condition, operational needs, risk, and return on investment, and leading major capital projects covering building systems replacements, infrastructure upgrades, and mechanical and electrical improvements. the director will manage project scope, bidding, contractor selection, budgets, schedules, and delivery; partner on major renovations and redevelopment to support seamless turnover; conduct property condition assessments; and report project and budget performance to ownership and executive leadership. additional responsibilities include establishing preventive maintenance programs and engineering standards, overseeing critical building systems and engineering performance, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory requirements (including fire and life safety, accessibility, water hygiene, and local licensing), coordinating inspection and emergency preparedness documentation, managing building envelope and exterior asset preservation, and leading energy management and sustainability initiatives alongside repair and maintenance and capital budget development and cost monitoring.
