Description

We are seeking a seasoned corporate counsel with a background in the construction industry to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will possess a law degree, have passed the California Bar exam, and demonstrate extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects. This role offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000 annually, along with profit sharing, bonuses, paid vacation, a 401(k) plan with company match, and comprehensive health benefits. The position requires engagement in essential responsibilities related to contract management and compliance, ensuring all agreements adhere to industry standards and legal regulations.

The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various construction contracts, including Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, public-private partnership agreements, design-build contracts, and joint venture agreements. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, managing subcontractor and supplier agreements, and providing legal oversight on contract modifications, claims management, and regulatory compliance for large infrastructure projects. The counsel will also oversee legal matters concerning contractual claims, construction defects, project delays, and disputes, while collaborating with external counsel when necessary.

Key qualifications for this position include a Juris Doctor degree with an active California Bar membership and 5-10 years of experience in construction, infrastructure law, or related legal fields, preferably in an in-house capacity or at a construction-focused law firm. The candidate should have expertise in handling EPC, PPP, and design-build contracts, possess strong negotiation skills, and be adept at managing complex multi-stakeholder legal matters. Familiarity with public procurement laws, government contracts, and dispute resolution is also essential. The role requires advising on insurance requirements, acting as a strategic advisor to leadership and project teams, and liaising with government and regulatory entities on legal matters.
