In this capacity, the Controller will help ensure strong financial stewardship and responsible management of institutional resources.
Reporting to the Vice President for Finance, the Controller will serve as the institution’s lead accounting officer and will oversee all financial operations in alignment with GAAP (FASB) and applicable nonprofit accounting standards. The Controller will establish and evaluate accounting policies and procedures, support the implementation of best practices in higher education accounting, and ensure compliance, fiscal integrity, and operational efficiency across all accounting functions. The Controller provides executive-level ownership of the accuracy, timeliness, and credibility of the institution’s financial records.
The Controller leads institutional accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, investment and endowment accounting, and restricted fund reporting, operating with a high degree of autonomy in a standalone environment. This role requires strong professional judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex accounting matters while supporting senior leadership and the Board through accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and clear communication.
