The client is seeking a Commercial Director for a premium spirits organization expanding its operations into Miami. The role is responsible for overall sales and marketing management, including leadership of trade channels and distributors, co-development and implementation of the commercial and marketing plan, and planning/analysis/control of business and brand performance. The Commercial Director will help ensure distributor execution of marketing plans and achievement of established sales goals.
Key responsibilities include managing importers/distributors and building strong working relationships with their marketing, sales, and promotional teams; developing pricing and discount strategy aligned with brand positioning; educating trade partners on brand strategy; and establishing an accountability framework through agreed marketing and sales plans with regular performance review meetings. The role will also interface with distributor trade teams to facilitate marketing initiatives, identify opportunities to grow within existing trade channels, conduct trade research and gap analysis using sales and trade data, and develop strategic alliances to enhance sales, profitability, and brand presence.
The Commercial Director will oversee brand distribution strategy and growth drivers, including merchandising and point-of-sale programs, co-developing brand plans to deliver annual goals across share, volume, revenue, contribution, distribution, and pricing, and supervising promotions—particularly on-premise—to ensure effective implementation and adherence to brand guidelines. Additional duties include co-developing experiential programs, conducting pre- and post-promotion/event ROI analysis, monitoring inventory levels and point-of-sale to avoid out-of-stocks, ensuring compliance and proper control of marketing and operational expense budgets, and maintaining relationships with key trade customers. The role will provide leadership and development for internal and distributor stakeholders, maintain regular reporting to the CEO, and is expected to spend more than 50% of time out of the office/home in the market; it will be supported by proven experience in sales, marketing, and promotion within fast-moving consumer environments.
