The client is the UKs only charity dedicated to supporting individuals in horticulture, assisting gardeners, landscapers, greenkeepers, tree surgeons, and grounds maintenance professionals. With a history dating back to 1839, the client provides free and confidential advice, financial assistance, and preventative services to thousands of individuals annually. Currently, they are looking for a Commercial Development Director to expand and enhance their commercial income streams.
The role involves collaborating across the client, leading strategies to maximize visitor numbers and profitability for each garden through avenues such as cafs, retail, plant sales, and events. Working closely with the Marketing & Fundraising team and garden managers, the goal is to advance sales, membership, and visitor targets by adopting both existing opportunities and innovative approaches. A background in commercial leadership related to visitor attractions is essential, as the position is pivotal in shaping the clients commercial future by managing gardens, optimizing resources, and engaging with local communities and partners.
Additionally, the role requires anticipating risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and assessing performance against key performance indicators. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Commercial Development Director will contribute to strategic decision-making and act as a catalyst for the clients growth and success. Applicants are required to submit a CV with a supporting statement that addresses person specification criteria, detail any employment or education gaps, and provide referee details. Successful candidates moving to the final stages will have their references contacted with prior permission.
