The client is seeking a Clinical Director, a newly created Executive Leadership Team role responsible for executive oversight rather than a traditional hands-on clinical position. The Clinical Director will report directly to the Chief Executive and will lead on governance, quality, safety, assurance, clinical strategy, and innovation, helping shape the organisation’s future direction during a period of significant change. This role will focus on ensuring strong external influence and evidence-led improvement as commissioning and related arrangements evolve.
The ideal candidate is an experienced clinical leader with credibility in governance, quality, safety, and risk management, alongside the strategic insight to shape gambling harms prevention, treatment, and support. The role requires sound judgement and the ability to communicate with authority and credibility, as well as a collaborative leadership style suited to working across complex systems. The Clinical Director will build trusted relationships, drive service innovation, and support inclusive, future-focused service development with a clear commitment to quality, safety, and service user outcomes, including placing lived experience at the heart of improvement.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence-led leadership and an inclusive approach that supports continuous improvement in clinical strategy and innovation. The client anticipates that the successful candidate will provide direction and assurance across clinical governance and quality priorities, strengthening service effectiveness and organisational readiness through robust oversight. An ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and influence change at an executive level is essential for the role.
