A growing proprietary trading firm is seeking a hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the development and operation of its trading technology platform. This individual will be responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that powers low-latency trading strategies across global markets. The CTO will work closely with trading, research, and operations teams to guide the technical architecture and engineering organization while actively participating in system design and implementation. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in electronic trading, particularly within high-frequency or proprietary trading firms, a proven track record in building Direct Market Access (DMA) infrastructure, and deep knowledge of exchange connectivity and colocation environments.
The role requires strong programming skills in C++, Java, Rust, or similar high-performance languages, as well as experience leading and scaling engineering teams. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of market microstructure, order lifecycle management, and real-time risk management systems. Preferred qualifications include experience with listed derivatives, smart order routing, FPGA acceleration, and developing market data distribution systems. The CTO must be skilled in managing relationships with exchanges, brokers, and market data providers, and knowledgeable about trading system resiliency and monitoring.
The Chief Technology Officer will architect and oversee the firm's low-latency trading platform, build and maintain exchange connectivity, and lead the development of order management and market data systems. Responsibilities also include optimizing system performance, managing colocation deployments, and partnering with research teams to support strategy execution.
