the client offers 360° search solutions to the global commodities markets and is working with a merchandiser to hire a Chief Risk Officer. The role will support risk and market decision-making across key trading and merchandising activities, with an emphasis on understanding grain market dynamics and applying risk management approaches to a volatile environment.

Key responsibilities include facilitating internal discussions to shape market outlook, devise hedging strategies, and assess fundamental, seasonal, and technical indicators. The Chief Risk Officer will be expected to identify new business opportunities and strategic alliances, communicate risk strategies clearly to diverse stakeholders, and oversee professional merchandising for key clients, including planning and marketing, executing hedges and cash trades, managing logistics, and maintaining ongoing client communications.

The role also involves formulating strategies, monitoring market trends, analyzing grain profit and loss components, and managing related data with precision. The Chief Risk Officer will support farm marketing, trading, and logistics operations as needed, working independently under pressure while managing multiple priorities; it is expected that the individual will be knowledgeable about futures, spread, basis, and logistics risks, and comfortable with cash grain trading as well as futures and options. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, agricultural economics, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience), at least three years of experience in cash grain merchandising, and appropriate licensing or the ability to obtain a relevant license.
