The client is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to serve as a senior thought-partner to the CEO in developing the strategic plan for long-term growth. This role involves driving initiatives to create value for the cell and gene therapy community, considering potential geographical expansion and evolving organizational structure and operations. The COO will ensure efficient daily management, overseeing internal revenue and operations functions. They will work in concert with the CEO to expand current revenue streams and develop new business models.
The COO will be responsible for establishing deep relationships with member companies, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders to support growth and partnerships. They will address operational gaps and inefficiencies, recommending solutions where necessary. The COO will play a pivotal role in navigating the external environment, including the membership landscape and market conditions, and will help set and execute organization-wide operational plans aligned with approved goals. The position also involves being a key cultural figure who drives employee engagement and collaboration across the organization.
Operational responsibilities include providing strategic oversight across various functions such as Events and Marketing, Membership Finance and Business Operations, IT, Facilities and Compliance, and Human Resources. The COO will manage conferences both globally and domestically to foster engagement and grow revenue through events, education, and sponsorships. They will work with the finance department to manage the budget and ensure financial accuracy. The role requires ten years of management experience in the association sector, with skills in strategic planning, team building, decision-making, and effective collaboration with senior management.
