This client is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a high-impact role focused on driving strategy, efficiency, and organizational profitability. The position will provide chief financial and operational strategist leadership across budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and profitability analysis, while also supporting performance reporting and the use of metrics to guide decisions. It will additionally oversee key financial functions related to legal accounting compliance, trust accounts, and financial system and technology evaluation to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
The COO will also lead or oversee strategic people and operational functions, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations, with partnership alongside the HR leadership to foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture. Responsibilities extend to operational systems and technology coordination, including collaboration with technology leadership to ensure infrastructure aligns with financial and operational objectives, as well as support for cybersecurity and data protection policies and technology investment recommendations.
Additional operational leadership includes facilities and risk management, covering office space planning, lease and relocation coordination, vendor relationships, and day-to-day facilities operations, along with oversight of malpractice insurance renewals and compliance and risk mitigation strategies. The successful applicant will typically have an advanced education preferred, 10+ years of operational leadership experience in a law firm or professional services environment, the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights, proven experience managing growth and change, and strong collaboration with senior leadership, along with leadership and communication skills to build effective teams.
