The client seeks an experienced Chief Operating & Financial Officer (COO/CFO) to strengthen and scale financial systems and operational infrastructure in support of its mission and growth. Reporting to the Executive Director, the COO/CFO will own financial strategy and broader operations, directing financial planning, budgeting, investment strategy, nonprofit fund accounting, grant compliance, risk management, and Board financial reporting. An early priority will be completing the transition from outsourced to in-house accounting while maintaining strong controls, efficient processes, and timely financial information to support sound decision-making and long-term sustainability.
In this role, the COO/CFO will lead the Mission Coordination Team (MCT), a multidisciplinary group covering finance, accounting, administration, operations, technology, and people and culture across The client’s offices in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Chapel Hill. The leader will guide the team through the organization’s 2026–2028 strategic roadmap, foster a collaborative and accountable culture, and partner closely with leadership to align the organization’s people, systems, and resources.
The COO/CFO will serve as a member of the Leadership Table and Executive Team, contributing to organizational direction and helping shape enterprise priorities. The position is expected to support The client’s continued operational readiness and financial integrity as it responds to evolving needs and expands its impact, including through effective internal coordination, systems development, and disciplined management of financial and operational processes.
