Description

the client seeks a Chief Operations Officer (COO) to define and direct the organization’s operations strategy and help advance its commitment to dismantling inequalities and fostering an inclusive culture. This is a strategic, collaborative leadership role requiring strong communication skills, relationship building, and a substantial record of operational management and strategy. The COO will partner across the organization to operationalize equity and inclusion priorities and support the delivery of educational impact across a broad network.

the COO will serve as a key partner to the CEO, the senior leadership team, and the Board of Directors, working closely with regional and foundation leaders. Responsibilities include providing leadership and strategy for short- and long-term operational plans and translating those plans into systematized processes and procedures across workstreams. The COO will lead operational change and systems thinking, defining what operational sustainability means, standardizing that vision across the network, and developing a community of practitioners to ensure resources are deployed effectively in service of students.

the ideal candidate has demonstrated success in change management and in leading and aligning teams, systems, and operations within a complex organization. The role is expected to include overseeing complex budgets and managing significant organizational change while maintaining a strong focus on team culture. Given the organization’s commitment to racial justice and equity, the COO must be a champion of these values, intentionally operationalizing policies, practices, and systems that foster equity and inclusion across a federated structure, while driving DEI initiatives and building a performance-based culture centered on delivering excellent outcomes for students.
