The client is seeking a Chief Legal & Compliance Officer for a regional group-level role. This position serves as the group’s main legal and compliance representative, operating across multiple markets in Asia and supporting continued growth through new markets, partnerships, acquisitions, and corporate structuring.
The role will partner closely with founders, senior leadership, external counsel, banks, partners, and business teams to manage legal, regulatory, commercial, and structural risks. Responsibilities include advising across group operating companies, supporting regional legal matters across Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and future markets, managing external counsel across jurisdictions, and providing clear, business-friendly legal guidance that balances legal protection with business speed and momentum.
The Chief Legal & Compliance Officer will oversee corporate governance and holding company structures, shareholder agreements, ESOP matters, and group-level legal documentation. Additional responsibilities include building practical legal, compliance, contract, and risk frameworks; strengthening compliance standards across payments, merchant onboarding, regulatory expectations, data protection, and cross-border operations; reviewing and negotiating key commercial agreements; and supporting M&A through due diligence, transaction review, negotiation, and risk assessment. Requirements include 8+ years of legal, compliance, corporate, or risk-related experience with strong regional exposure across Asia, along with experience in fintech and payments or related technology/digital platforms, strong commercial contracting and governance/structuring skills, and comfort working directly with founders and business leaders in a fast-moving environment.
