the client is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to provide executive nursing management, direction, and leadership. In this role, the CNO will be responsible for advancing a caring, service-oriented professional culture that emphasizes employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience. The position also supports the senior leadership team by building effective collegial relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring strong operational effectiveness and strategic positioning.

The CNO will report to the President and provide matrixed responsibility for nursing practice across regional operations. Key responsibilities include driving and supporting nursing leadership initiatives, modeling organizational values and expectations, and ensuring that nursing practice aligns with patient-centered care and organizational goals. The role is expected to strengthen collaboration and coordination across applicable constituencies to promote consistent standards and effective service delivery.

Required qualifications include a BSN and a Master’s degree in Nursing (or a related healthcare field), with a PhD or DNP in Nursing preferred. The client seeks a candidate with at least 7+ years of progressive experience in senior nursing leadership roles within a hospital or health system of comparable size and complexity, and the ability to navigate a matrixed organizational structure. Experience in a Magnet-designated environment is viewed favorably. Candidates should demonstrate leadership capabilities in staff development, mentoring, and coaching, along with excellent written and verbal communication and strong presentation skills. Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in Pennsylvania (or the ability to obtain it) is required, and National Nurse Executive Certification is preferred.
