The client is seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to oversee the delivery of integrated medical services and advance quality improvement, population health, behavioral health, street health, and credentialing. The CMO will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring patients and clients receive coordinated care and setting clinical direction through planning and visioning, while maintaining a split role that includes direct patient care alongside substantial clinical and quality oversight.
The CMO will supervise Department Medical Directors, medical providers, clinical program leads, and leaders responsible for behavioral health and street health outreach, and will also support clinical administration through designated staff roles. Key leadership responsibilities include clinical and administrative management such as managing clinical budget/finance and personnel, supervising providers through orientation, performance evaluations, peer reviews, and corrective actions, and partnering on recruitment and retention of clinicians. The CMO will oversee credentialing and privileging functions, support site managers with personnel-related issues, direct continuing medical education and training, and represent the organization in advisory and collaborative settings while also helping develop and adapt service delivery models and clinical policies. Required qualifications include board certification in a primary care specialty; progressive administrative or management experience in a primary healthcare environment, particularly serving underserved communities; proven success supervising providers and clinical staff; and substantial medical director experience with a Medicaid or Medi-Cal patient population; experience in culturally and linguistically diverse settings is preferred, as is prior experience in managed care environments.
