The client is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to develop and execute an external communications strategy that supports fundraising. The role will engage donors and prospects through traditional and new media, and will also help directly raise revenue through direct-mail and e-marketing programs. The CMO will work as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, helping shape a multi-year marketing and communications strategy and leading the organization’s marketing team.
Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring a team of marketing professionals and freelancers, building career-pathing and professional growth opportunities, and shifting the marketing function toward forward-looking, strategic planning. The CMO will serve as the organization’s crisis communications lead with responsiveness requirements that may include evenings, weekends, and Shabbat during emergencies affecting Israel or the organization’s mission. The role also includes leading brand strategy and ensuring marketing materials and messages are consistent in both content and visual identity.
The CMO will oversee press and public relations, direct-mail and e-marketing performance with support from outside consultants, and coordination with stewardship to advance donor conversion to higher giving levels. Additional scope includes marketing and communications support for donor engagement initiatives, broader audience expansion to engage younger generations and identify new geographic markets, and revenue efforts associated with a Christian initiative targeting the U.S. evangelical community. The CMO will ensure materials clearly and consistently communicate the organization’s mission and services, maintain communication with the Board and Marketing Committee, manage marketing budget approvals including consultant and vendor invoices, and oversee creation and maintenance of print and digital content, promotional items, online store activities, and related children’s book marketing.
