the client seeks an accomplished, strategic, and forward-looking leader to serve as its inaugural Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). In this role, you will define and advance a comprehensive, institute-wide information security strategy to safeguard the organization’s systems, data, and intellectual assets across its research and academic enterprise. You will be accountable for enterprise security architecture and for advising institutional leadership on security priorities and an evolving threat landscape, while overseeing the design, execution, and oversight of security policies, programs, and practices.
You will join at a pivotal time as the client continues expanding technological capabilities and digital infrastructure to support research, education, and global collaboration. The CISO will help integrate security into institutional planning and decision-making, ensuring security practices keep pace with developments such as cloud computing, emerging technologies, and distributed environments. You will partner with stakeholders across operational units to promote secure and responsible technological innovation, and play a central role in enabling innovation while protecting critical assets.
Key responsibilities include embedding a “security-first” culture across the organization through collaboration, communication, and education. You will promote shared accountability for protecting data and systems by working with faculty, researchers, and administrators and by elevating security awareness. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cybersecurity executive with strong strategic judgment, deep enterprise security expertise, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing team, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining security talent while communicating complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
