Description

The client is seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly effective information technology leader to serve as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO will provide decision-support to the President and leadership team and optimize the strategic allocation of resources in support of the organization’s mission. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to align technology priorities with broader leadership objectives.

Reporting to the President, the CIO is responsible for establishing and executing a university-wide IT strategy and ensuring integration with academic and administrative strategies. This includes overseeing information technology across multiple schools, campuses, and extended or online programs, and providing oversight for technology infrastructure and information security. Responsibilities include governance and management of enterprise computing, client support services, telecommunications, digital media services, and network systems, while maintaining reliability, security, and readiness to respond to evolving risks.

The CIO will stay abreast of security threats and the implications of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled technologies. The role includes engaging with key stakeholders—students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni—to assess strategic priorities and advise the President and leadership on enterprise technology investments. The CIO will champion modernization and analytics innovation, support digital transformation and cybersecurity initiatives, and guide adoption of emerging technologies to enhance academic excellence and operational performance.
