Description

the client is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the strategy, design, and evolution of core systems and data architecture for a Web3 infrastructure platform focused on digital identity and data ownership. This is a founding leadership role at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and product strategy, with responsibility for how the platform handles identity, data interoperability, cross-chain communication, performance, privacy, and compliance. the CIO will work closely with senior leadership and engineering teams to align systems architecture with business goals and future ecosystem integrations, helping the organization scale securely and intelligently.

Key responsibilities include defining and executing the company’s information and data architecture strategy; leading the design and governance of systems that support decentralized identity, cross-chain messaging, and privacy-preserving user data; and ensuring scalability, performance, and security across a rapidly evolving multi-chain environment. the role also involves overseeing integrations with wallet providers, decentralized applications, layer 1 and layer 2 networks, and enterprise partners, as well as building internal capabilities for monitoring, reporting, compliance, and decision-making. the CIO will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure information systems remain aligned with product vision and business objectives, and will hire and manage an InfoSec and data team as the company grows.

the client is looking for senior technical leadership experience (typically 7+ years in roles such as CTO, CIO, or VP Engineering), ideally within fast-scaling environments. a strong background in data infrastructure, systems architecture, or enterprise-grade information security is expected, along with deep understanding of crypto primitives, decentralized identity (DID) protocols, or decentralized storage systems as a major plus. additional strengths include experience with multi-chain systems, cross-chain messaging, and wallet integrations, and the ability to translate technical vision into business outcomes while serving as a strategic thought partner to leadership in relevant external forums. comfort working with a globally distributed team in a fast-moving industry is also important.
