the client is seeking an accomplished, strategic, and hands-on Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to serve as a key partner to senior leadership. Reporting to the COO, the CHRO will help shape the future of HR initiatives that support organizational mission and objectives. This role will champion a positive organizational culture, foster staff development, leverage technology, and drive efficiencies and excellence in HR operations while providing strategic vision and direction.
The CHRO will modernize HR systems and use technology to streamline talent acquisition and performance management processes. Responsibilities include leading performance efforts that support development and professional growth across a diverse workforce, and ensuring positive labor relations for both unionized and non-union staff through effective negotiation strategies. The CHRO will also partner across the organization’s programs to strengthen a cohesive and collaborative culture, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution to ensure HR functions as both a tactical and strategic partner.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. The client seeks at least 10 years of progressive HR experience, including meaningful leadership experience in the education or non-profit sector (preferred). Candidates should demonstrate strong strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of HR functions such as talent management, compensation, benefits, and compliance, and proven experience managing complex projects and leading organizational change. HR certification (e.g., SPHR or SHRM-SCP) is highly desirable, along with strong confidentiality, independent judgment, and problem-solving abilities, and the creativity to develop solutions that inform organizational policies and procedures.
