the client is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive-level financial leadership for a growing, community-focused health system. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will help shape financial strategy, support long-term sustainability, and enable the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while guiding the organization through growth, innovation, and transformation in an evolving healthcare environment.
The CFO will oversee the Accounting Department and associated functions, including accounts payable, payroll, accounting, revenue cycle, and other assigned areas. Responsibilities include verifying and overseeing accounting transactions (including revenue and expense analysis, variances, benchmarks, and related statistics), preparing the annual budget and regulatory reporting, and producing monthly and annual financial reporting along with benchmarking reports. The role also communicates the organization’s financial health to senior leadership and the designated finance representative for presentation to the board of directors.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, and a master’s degree in a related field. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred. The position requires 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting leadership, with a minimum of 5+ years at the CFO or VP level, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a community-based healthcare environment—particularly with a high governmental payer mix and/or a track record managing in financially stressed conditions—is highly preferred, as is strong healthcare revenue cycle experience, a contemporary enterprise-wide perspective, and the ability to clearly explain complex financial matters to all levels, including the board.
