The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic and financial leader responsible for safeguarding fiscal integrity and ensuring sound financial management aligned with the organization’s mission, objectives, and governing bylaws. The CFO will oversee all financial functions, provide actionable insights to the CEO and Board of Directors, monitor investment performance, manage financial reporting and analysis, and support regulatory and other association-related compliance. This retained search role emphasizes collaboration, results-driven leadership, and the opportunity to help shape financial strategy and organizational growth.
Key responsibilities include providing strategic financial guidance, leading budgeting and forecasting, and delivering analysis to support growth and decision-making. The CFO will ensure accurate accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance across all association operations in coordination with the Controller, and will oversee investment performance, asset management, and adherence to contractual and policy guidelines. The role will also partner with the CEO to support the Board, committees, and auditors through reporting, analysis, and convention-related financial planning, and will lead and develop finance and accounting staff to align financial operations with organizational goals.
The role requires a CPA or an MBA in Finance or a related field, along with an actuarial background (preferred: ASA or FSA). Experience is expected to include 10+ years in business, finance, or insurance, with a preference for candidates from insurance or financial services organizations; experience with fraternal organizations is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, strong understanding of ledger and investment systems, and familiarity with statutory accounting are expected (Blue Book knowledge preferred), as is the ability to prepare materials and present to a Board (preferred).
