The organization organizes, advocates, tells stories, and develops leaders to support a multiracial democracy, with a focus on safety and thriving for all communities. Within this mission-driven work, the client seeks a CFO to systematize and oversee finance, compliance, budgeting, and administrative management, including fiscal sponsorships.
The CFO will report to the CEO and act as a change agent by driving best practices that support the organization’s objectives. This senior executive role supervises the finance team and manages relationships with outsourced accountants and auditors, while contributing to a learning culture among a diverse staff. The CFO is expected to bring mission-focused leadership, strategic thinking, and process-minded execution, including experience supporting organizations with related governance and compliance structures.
Key responsibilities include ensuring the organization has financial and operational systems and staffing to achieve strategic goals, providing analytical support and internal reporting capabilities, and collaborating with senior leadership to align financial planning across functions. The CFO will guide strategic financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, and growth priorities; oversee transparent financial reporting and preparation of reports for internal stakeholders, boards, and grantors as required; and deliver financial analysis to inform decision-making. The role also requires ensuring compliance with legal obligations and accounting/reporting best practices across entities, supervising the finance team and relevant consultants, and serving as a liaison to boards and finance/audit committees while communicating critical financial matters for select meetings.
