The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as the organization’s senior financial executive and enterprise financial steward, accountable for financial rigor, operational excellence, governance, and trust across the organization and its affiliated entities. Operating in a highly regulated higher education and workforce-focused environment, the CFO will help oversee financial stewardship that supports students and employers through outcomes-driven models. This is a senior, enterprise-wide finance leadership role with full ownership of financial operations, systems, capital strategy, and institutional risk management, and it is expected to provide strategic partnership as the organization evolves its portfolio and enters its next phase of growth.
The CFO will be responsible for ensuring nonprofit financial structures and compliance are effectively managed, including oversight of nonprofit accounting and reporting responsibilities such as required nonprofit filings and regulatory obligations. The role is distinct from a controller or accounting-only profile, emphasizing enterprise governance, disciplined controls, and financial credibility. The CFO is expected to contribute to institutional risk management and to strengthen governance processes by maintaining transparency and reliable financial oversight.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and relevant Audit and Finance Committees, the CFO will act as a trusted advisor and confidant while supporting executive decision-making at the enterprise level. The ideal leader brings maturity, sound judgment, and executive presence, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team and senior leadership to guide financial planning, support operational effectiveness, and underpin strategic expansion with strong financial leadership.
