A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is sought to join the executive leadership team of The client. In this role, you will direct financial and business office activities in alignment with hospital policies and objectives, supporting a visionary, strategic CEO through thoughtful, calculated risk-taking. The position is expected to help ensure the organization’s ongoing financial sustainability and success, while contributing to a strong, established leadership culture.
The CFO will be responsible for compliance with healthcare regulations, accurate financial reporting, and strategic financial planning. Oversight typically includes accounting, budgeting, revenue cycle management, managed care contracting, materials management, and the clinically integrated network. The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field, with a Master’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate has typically acquired at least 3–5 years of progressive healthcare financial leadership experience, including experience in a hospital finance leadership role; prior CFO experience in a for-profit or not-for-profit hospital system is preferred, as is experience as a hospital controller or assistant controller. Strong knowledge of healthcare finance regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and cost reporting, is expected, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency with healthcare financial systems and Microsoft Excel is expected, and experience with rural hospital models is highly preferred.
