Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join The client as a hands-on financial leader. This role provides daily on-site leadership presence in Sacramento, California, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer as a key member of the executive leadership team. The CFO is responsible for strategic and operational oversight of all financial functions across the organization, its programs, and six affiliated entities, supporting a mission centered on behavioral health, supportive services, and community-based solutions.
The CFO will oversee accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audit management, compliance, treasury management, and long-term financial planning to ensure financial health and sustainability. Responsibilities include leading, mentoring, and cultivating a high-performing finance and accounting team, strengthening financial systems, internal controls, and organizational infrastructure, and translating financial information into strategic insight that supports sound decision-making and organizational growth. The CFO will collaborate closely with the CEO, executive leadership, the Board of Directors, finance governance bodies, auditors, lenders, and regulatory partners.
Core responsibilities include serving as a strategic advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board on financial planning, organizational performance, risk management, and long-term sustainability; developing financial strategies aligned with The client’s mission and multi-entity structure; and leading annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario planning. The CFO will provide strategic recommendations related to growth initiatives, affiliated entities, capital investments, and operational performance, and present financial results, forecasts, and key performance indicators to leadership and Board committees. An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and demonstrated experience leading complex nonprofit financial operations are essential, with strong expertise in nonprofit and fund accounting, audit management, regulatory compliance, and multi-entity financial oversight expected.
