The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of the organization’s finance function. The CFO will enhance internal processes and infrastructure to support the organization’s operational efficiency, capacity building, and mission-focused growth and expansion. This role serves as a key business advisor to the leadership team and is expected to manage, lead, and mentor finance staff responsible for accounting, auxiliary services, payroll, student accounts, procurement, control, and budgeting.
Key responsibilities include improving and enforcing finance policies and procedures through effective systems and processes, analyzing financial data to identify trends and opportunities, evaluating internal controls, and driving improvements in budgeting, procurement, and payroll. The CFO will assess the finance organization and staffing structure, recruit and supervise departmental staff, support staff learning and development, and conduct assigned studies and analyses. The role also includes establishing and monitoring short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, and making process changes to improve effectiveness.
The CFO will lead risk management activities related to external vendor contracts, including evaluation of performance, remediation of issues, management of renewal and bid processes, and oversight of insurance policy knowledge and relationships. Financial planning and analysis duties include leading development and management of the annual budget, performing cost and productivity analyses, implementing budget and finance policies, and creating forecasting and expense management approaches, along with reporting budget actuals monthly and annually. Reporting responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate financial and compliance reporting aligned with applicable accounting and reporting standards, supporting leadership and audit processes, coordinating internal audit requests within the CFO’s scope, and producing regular financial dashboards, ratios, and board and compliance reporting.
