Description

The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting functions for a community bank serving the Houston, TX area. This senior leadership role will guide the organization’s finance team toward growth and expansion, including development of financial strategies and support of organizational planning.

The Chief Financial Officer will direct financial activities such as reporting, planning, supervision, and investments; assist the Executive Team with forecasting and budgeting; prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, budgets, and regulatory reporting; and ensure timely handling of annual tax return-related financial information. The role also includes governance and oversight responsibilities such as participation in the bank’s ALCO committee, supervising financial reporting and related operational functions, maintaining alignment with organizational policies and current accounting standards, and coordinating audits to support compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.

Additional responsibilities include managing disbursement requests in accordance with policy, monitoring reserve levels and other financial details to meet legal and regulatory requirements, evaluating staff performance and recommending personnel actions, coordinating financial planning, procurement of funds, and investment of surpluses, and developing internal control policies for cash, credit, and accounting administration. The client expects a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting (master’s degree may be preferred) and a CPA designation may be preferred, with four or more years of related experience or equivalent education and experience; strong accuracy and attention to detail; excellent communication skills; and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and resolve complex financial problems. Proficiency in common PC software applications such as spreadsheet and word processing tools is also expected.
