Description

We are seeking a Hybrid Remote Chief Financial Officer for a community bank in the Dayton, OH area. The client is looking for a dynamic, innovative senior leader to oversee all accounting functions and guide the organization’s financial strategy toward growth and expansion. This role will partner with the executive team on forecasting and budgeting, and will support financial reporting and planning across the organization.

Key responsibilities include directing enterprise financial activities such as reporting, planning, supervision, and investments; preparing and/or directing financial statements, business activity reporting, forecasts, annual budgets, and regulatory reports; and supporting tax preparation by preparing financial information for outside accountants or preparing annual tax returns directly. The Chief Financial Officer will serve on the bank’s ALCO committee as a member or chair, supervise teams involved in financial reporting and related functions, coordinate and oversee audits to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal requirements, and manage approval processes for disbursements in line with organizational policies.

The role also includes monitoring financial performance and details such as reserve levels to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, evaluating and improving the performance of accounting and other financial staff, and coordinating financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities. The successful candidate will develop internal controls and procedures related to budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting; analyze past and expected operations to identify opportunities for improvement; evaluate funding and surplus investment needs and make recommendations; and lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting (master’s degree and CPA designation are preferred), extensive banking experience with a bank of at least $5B in assets, seven or more years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience, strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
