The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its senior leadership team and serve as a key member of the President’s Cabinet. The role reports to the President and CEO and is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s financial vision to support long-term stability, fiscal integrity, and resource strategy. The CFO will partner across the organization to align financial planning with the institution’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
The CFO oversees accounting, budgeting, financial planning, investments, treasury, risk management, procurement, and audit compliance. Responsibilities include serving as a senior advisor on fiscal matters with data-informed guidance; leading annual and multi-year budget development aligned to strategic priorities; directing capital planning and managing debt and liquidity strategies; ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards; partnering to strengthen stewardship of endowed and restricted funds as well as unrestricted resources; and communicating complex financial information clearly to diverse internal audiences.
Key priorities include advancing a strategic multi-year financial framework, strengthening financial sustainability and transparency through modernized financial operations and internal controls, and promoting financial collaboration and literacy across the campus. The role will also involve building and mentoring a high-performing team of financial professionals focused on service, accountability, and innovation. Qualifications include a required master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (CPA preferred), at least ten years of progressive senior financial leadership experience (ideally in higher education or a mission-driven nonprofit), demonstrated success in long-term financial planning and complex budgeting, experience managing diverse revenue streams, familiarity with ERP systems and data analytics tools, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the higher education financial and regulatory environment.
