Description

The client seeks a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting functions for a community bank. This senior leadership role will guide the organization’s financial strategy toward growth and expansion, including supporting the executive team with forecasting and budgeting. The position is expected to operate in the Chicago, IL area.

Key responsibilities include directing organizational financial activities, preparing and/or directing financial statements, budgets, and other required reports, and ensuring timely annual tax preparation in coordination with outside support when applicable. The role also supports regulatory reporting needs, serves as a member of or chair of the bank’s ALCO committee, develops internal control policies and procedures, and monitors reserve levels and other financial activity to maintain legal and regulatory compliance. Additional duties include coordinating and overseeing audits, authorizing disbursement requests in line with company policies, and evaluating procurement of funds and investment of surpluses with recommendations for management.

The client expects strong leadership and analytical capability, including supervision and performance evaluation of financial staff involved in reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and applicable accounting standards and directives, lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management, and analyze historical and forecasted financial performance to identify improvement opportunities. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting (master’s degree preferred), a CPA designation preferred, and seven or more years of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), along with advanced proficiency in common PC software, strong attention to detail, clear communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
