the client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting functions for a community bank in the Chicago, IL area. This senior leadership role is expected to guide the organization’s financial strategy toward growth and expansion, with a focus on delivering successful growth planning and support to the executive team.
The Chief Financial Officer will direct company financial activities including reporting, planning, supervision, and investments. Responsibilities include forecasting and budgeting support, preparing and/or directing preparation of financial statements and business activity reporting, supporting annual tax return preparation through appropriate financial information or coordination with outside accountants, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, directives, and accounting standards. The role will also support audits and compliance reviews, manage disbursement request processing in line with company procedures, monitor key financial details such as reserves to meet legal and regulatory requirements, and coordinate financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities.
The position includes involvement with the bank’s ALCO committee as either a member or chair, supervising teams involved in financial reporting and accounting-related functions such as billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting, and developing internal control policies for areas such as budget administration and cash and credit management. The client is looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting (master’s degree preferred) and a CPA designation preferred, along with seven or more years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, and resolve complex financial problems.
