Description

The client invites nominations and applications for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position. Reporting to and working with the President, the CFO provides strategic leadership in financial planning, analysis, and management, and serves as the key adviser to the President on the University’s financial affairs. The CFO also supports the Board of Trustees and its committees by offering financial information, perspective, and guidance.

The CFO partners with senior leaders to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders regarding the University’s financial condition and prospects. Key responsibilities include leading budgeting and financial planning, aligning financial and physical resources with institutional strategy, and developing multi-year plans for both finances and physical plant, including IT and facilities upgrades. The role includes cost control and risk management, with an emphasis on maximizing the effectiveness of financial and physical assets to support institutional objectives.

The CFO oversees business operations across areas such as accounting, physical plant, human resources, security, and risk management, and drives improvements in timeliness, cost effectiveness, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree and demonstrates commitment to the client’s mission and values, with a proven record in financial planning, budgeting, and managing diverse business functions. Strong negotiation and communication skills, experience leading diverse teams, improving efficiency through technology, managing security and facilities, and navigating higher education governance and business opportunities at an organization of comparable scale are expected, along with resilience in complex and challenging environments.
