The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial planning and accounting practices for an innovative organization in Anacortes, Washington. The CFO is expected to serve as a key member of the executive team, reporting to the CEO, and to provide essential financial information related to billing requirements, budgets, and financial planning to the appropriate stakeholders. Responsibilities include oversight of audits and tax reporting, financial and metric reporting to executive leaders and board members, and leadership of budgeting efforts to support sustainable program expenses while maximizing revenues.
The CFO will have overall accountability for financial viability and productivity, including audit control and trial processes for fiscally related systems and programs, as well as updates to those systems to meet regulatory requirements and improve accuracy and cash flow. This role will also support evaluation of competitive programs managed through healthcare organizations (such as PPO, HMO, and IPA models) and identify potential revenue-producing opportunities for the hospital and/or the hospital district. The CFO is expected to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity across the organization while guiding staff toward organizational performance improvement goals.
This position will emphasize revenue cycle and supply chain operations to align departmental performance with organizational expectations. The CFO must uphold a customer-focused culture while strengthening services without compromising the organization’s financial structure. Qualifications include a master’s degree and at least 5+ years of CFO or VP of Finance experience in an acute care setting; CPA certification is preferred. The client expects a hands-on, collaborative leader with strong critical thinking, forecasting, interpersonal and negotiation skills, business acumen, and the ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and execute to drive strategic financial direction and build trusting relationships with staff, physicians, and executive leadership.
