Chief Executive Officer sought by The client, a mission-driven healthcare organization focused on advancing health equity through whole-person care for individuals with complex chronic conditions and behavioral health needs, as well as significant social determinants of health. The role is an opportunity for an accomplished executive to guide the organization through its next stage of growth, operational scale, and geographic expansion. Candidates may be able to perform the role remotely with an established California healthcare network, though California-based candidates are strongly preferred, and regular travel throughout California is expected.
The client is redefining how care is delivered to underserved individuals with multiple chronic conditions (including at least uncontrolled diabetes) and related social needs, using an innovative, community-based care model. The organization partners with health plans, providers, and community organizations to improve outcomes for populations that have historically been difficult to serve in traditional healthcare systems. The organization has demonstrated clinical outcomes, secured value-based payer contracts, published research, and maintains a strong financial foundation, and it is preparing for enterprise-wide scaling of its proven care approach.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead statewide expansion across California and build the scalable infrastructure, strategic partnerships, and organizational capabilities required to support long-term growth and future expansion into additional geographies and payer environments. Responsibilities include driving geographic expansion; navigating and advocating through California’s evolving Medi-Cal and payment reforms; evolving payer partnerships and contracting strategies, including innovative payment methods; cultivating executive-level relationships with health plans, providers, funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders; and developing long-term strategy for growth beyond California while ensuring operational readiness and financial sustainability. The CEO will also work closely with the organization’s Founder to maintain the mission, culture, and whole-person approach as the organization scales.
