the client is seeking a results-oriented, experienced leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will lead a nationally recognized institution dedicated to inspiring current and future generations of space explorers, scientists, and innovators through education and immersive engagement. The organization operates as a world-class education and visitor destination with a nationally significant collection of space-related artifacts and programs designed for both children and adults.
The CEO reports to the client’s governing commission and is accountable for the overall success of the center, advancing its mission across camps, museum experiences, events, and artifacts. This role provides strategic, supervisory, operational, and financial leadership for an organization of approximately 300 full-time and 300–500 part-time/seasonal employees, with an operating budget of roughly $46 million. The ideal candidate brings strong business and operational acumen, can effectively manage multiple lines of business, serves as a highly effective manager and teambuilder, excels in public engagement, and will strategically lead the institution to remain a global leader in STEM and space exploration education.
The position will support ongoing institutional development through leadership in fundraising and partnership cultivation, with an emphasis on maintaining momentum toward future-focused innovation while honoring the organization’s legacy.
