the client is seeking a visionary, mission-driven CEO to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact. the organization’s purpose is to provide high-quality, culturally competent healthcare to underserved populations regardless of ability to pay. It has grown from a volunteer-run clinic into a far-reaching health system serving tens of thousands of patients annually through hundreds of thousands of visits across multiple sites in several counties.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO sets strategic direction, shapes policy, and oversees overall organizational performance and management. The role strengthens organizational capacity, drives growth, and ensures quality care and long-term financial sustainability. The CEO is expected to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including public and private partners, government officials, and leaders across academic, business, and medical communities, while fostering innovation, accountability, and operational alignment.

The ideal CEO is a mission-driven leader committed to health equity and serving underserved communities, with strong familiarity with the FQHC regulatory environment and compliance requirements, including HRSA, 340B, value-based care models, and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement structures. The role typically requires a master’s degree in public health or business administration and/or four or more years of related nonprofit experience, with FQHC experience preferred. The CEO will be responsible for leading a large, complex primary care ambulatory clinic with multi-site operations, demonstrating executive-level leadership across operations, finance, personnel management, and strategic planning, including the ability to recruit and retain executive leadership, oversee long-range fiscal and program planning, and adapt to political and fiscal headwinds while leading with integrity and transparency.
