The client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide executive leadership, represent the organization publicly, and lead the Durham team in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will manage organizational resources, including a stated budget of $2M, and will advance diversity, equity, and inclusion with a feminist perspective. The role includes serving as the association’s representative, building and stewarding relationships with community partners, and acting as an advocate on behalf of the organization and its constituents.
The CEO is expected to bring strong financial acumen and business skills, with experience in resource management, fundraising, and strategic planning. The position also calls for knowledge of current people and culture practices, as well as experience at a senior level supporting human services and shelter services, alongside risk management, project planning, and communications. The CEO will create an organizational culture focused on fulfilling the client’s vision, mission, and values, and will work with Board members, volunteers, paid staff, and the community to identify issues and develop strategies related to the well-being, safety, development, and equality of women and girls.
Key responsibilities include leading and inspiring volunteers that support the organization, participating as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board and Board committees as required, and fostering team-building to grow internal leaders. The successful candidate will be solutions focused, driven by progressive and innovative thinking, relational in approach, and ambitious in setting and executing priorities that support the client’s impact and accountability.
