The client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for an international nonprofit focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children and their families across Latin America and the Caribbean. The role is responsible for ensuring programs are effective, sustainable, and culturally responsive, and for leading a globally distributed, multicultural team across multiple geographies. The organization’s mission includes whole-child support through Protection (family-style stable homes), Prevention (family-strengthening, daycare, and reintegration efforts), and Preparation (supporting young people’s transitions to adulthood through training and leadership development).
The CEO will guide complex, multi-country operations across nine countries, while also coordinating with additional country offices primarily focused on fundraising. The position is expected to strengthen execution of the organization’s mission and governance through partnership building and financial stewardship, supporting resource diversification and sustained impact. The CEO will also provide leadership that fosters teamwork, inclusion, and trust across cultures and geographies.
Ideal candidates will bring proven executive leadership experience, preferably in international development, child welfare, humanitarian, or nonprofit sectors, and demonstrated success managing complex, multi-country operations in Latin America. Strong mission alignment, ethical leadership, and culturally sensitive collaboration are essential, along with deep understanding of issues affecting vulnerable children and families in Latin American contexts. Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is expected, and experience with nonprofit governance, international fundraising, and donor relations is preferred; advanced education in a related field is also preferred. Exposure to hospital operations is strongly preferred, and the CEO should be prepared to lead through crisis and travel frequently within Latin America and the Caribbean to engage with staff, donors, and partners.
