The client is seeking a visionary, community-engaged Chief Executive Officer to lead through a transition and build on a foundation of trust, transparency, innovation, and operational discipline. The CEO will guide the organization in alignment with its refreshed strategy, support equitable and dignified access to food across The client’s service area in 10 coastal counties of South Carolina, and strengthen donor and community relationships while positioning the organization as a premier hunger-relief leader.
The CEO reports to a Board of Directors and leads a Senior Leadership Team of direct reports, overseeing key functions including development, operations, finance, community programs, and people and culture. Responsibilities include providing strategic and organizational leadership; ensuring thoughtful and well-managed transition planning; fostering open communication and collaboration across a staff of approximately 78; partnering with the people and culture function to support HR practices and succession planning; encouraging innovation and adaptive ways of working; and staying attuned to relevant policy developments impacting food security and government funding.
The CEO serves as the visible public face of the organization, building relationships with donors, elected officials, business leaders, and media, and working closely with development leadership to sustain donor retention and grow major and planned gifts and support signature fundraising efforts. This is a full-time, in-person leadership role based at The client’s headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina, with regular travel across the 10-county service area, including to local food centers, along with occasional national travel.
