Description

The client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead a strategic, growth-oriented, and mission-driven healthcare organization focused on advancing health equity through whole-person care for individuals with complex chronic and behavioral health needs and significant social determinants of health. The CEO will guide the organization through its next stage of growth, operational scaling, and geographic expansion, building on an established community-based care model designed to improve outcomes for populations that are often difficult to serve through traditional systems.

Key responsibilities include leading strategic geographic expansion across California, deepening partnerships with managed care plans, providers, and community organizations, and navigating the evolving Medi-Cal landscape and related regulatory and payment reforms. The CEO will shape payer strategy and contracting approaches, including innovative payment methods, and develop long-term strategy to expand the care model beyond California. Additional responsibilities include building scalable operational infrastructure by transforming early-stage processes into repeatable, enterprise-grade operating systems, designing technology and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden, and ensuring the organization can scale without compromising clinical quality or patient outcomes.

The CEO will own long-term financial strategy, including disciplined P&L management, unit economics, and operational efficiencies, and will help secure the capital and strategic partnerships needed to support sustainable growth. They will serve as a trusted executive partner to health plans, providers, funders, and government stakeholders, partner with clinical leadership to maintain care model excellence and patient outcomes with operational rigor, and work closely with the Founder to translate clinical innovation into scalable execution. Required qualifications include 7+ years of executive leadership experience in healthcare delivery or services, demonstrated success leading through significant growth or scaling, deep understanding of California’s Medi-Cal ecosystem and managed care reimbursement and regulatory landscape, strong financial leadership with P&L and unit economics, and experience building scalable operating systems designed for replication; the role also emphasizes leading, inspiring, and developing a high-performing leadership team and fostering mission-aligned, accountability-focused culture.
