The client seeks an entrepreneurial Chief Development Officer to build and lead a strategic development function for a mission-driven national organization focused on community health centers and improving access to primary care. In this role, you will serve as a central leader for fundraising strategy and execution, converting high-level relationships into substantial, multi-year revenue and partnership opportunities. You will work closely with senior leadership to advance organizational priorities while ensuring development operations are run with strong strategy, governance, and best-practices discipline.
The Chief Development Officer is responsible for all fundraising efforts and initiatives, and at times will function as a “player-coach” by applying personal relationship networks and skill sets to grow revenue. This includes engaging foundations, corporations, high-net-worth donors, and government agencies, with an emphasis on both building new partnerships and expanding support from existing funding sources. The role will oversee an evolving development team of five staff members and is expected to drive ongoing diversification of fundraising revenue through disciplined planning, strategy, and partner stewardship.
Successful candidates will bring an authentic connection to the mission and a demonstrated track record in strategic fundraising with progressively increasing responsibility, including strategic planning. The role also expects strong relationship management, the ability to coordinate internal execution, and an aptitude for partnering with external organizations across regions. The client will support collaboration with diverse stakeholders and expects the CDO to be able to travel as needed to engage partners and strengthen development outcomes.
